Description
Torfheiður had already taken Aðalbjörg through the Arms of Akna award and they’d done quite well. Now she was taking Vanilla Coke. Nikola was taking Ræningi. They had started out together but during a blizzard they had become separated. They had agreed, as before that they would meet up at the end, if they didn’t find each other before hand. The brilliant thing about the Rite of Fortitude was that you often ran into others, just as Tor had done.
Daren Hey, who she’d met before was out with a Sphinx girl that she hadn’t seen before called Amarauk and Dean Remington, a Texan handler with a beautiful piebald Tokota called Sioux.In fact, all of the Tokotas were beautiful.
Tor had been telling the boys stories of the Adlet, a creature native to Alaska that she’d heard about on her travels that was supposedly somewhere between a centaur and a werewolf.
“I hope you boys won’t be kept awake,” she laughed after finishing the gory tale.
“Pssht, don’t be daft girl!” Daren dismissed. “We’ll be fine.”
“If you say so.” Tor pulled her sleeping bag tightly around herself and snuggled into Cola, watching the boys for a while before drifting off to sleep as she listened to their whisperings.
“Did you two get any sleep?” Tor asked as she saw the boys packing up their things early the next morning.
There was a long pause before Dean finally spoke, “Of course we did!”
“Easy, you don’t need to bite my head off.” She knew that they were trying to be more macho than they were currently feeling and she had to fight off a laugh. “Let me cook breakfast and make it up to you.”
The boys didn’t say anything. They just continued to pack up.
With the speed they ate their breakfast, Tor knew that they had been lying. They couldn’t wait to leave. Tor had to suppress another giggle.
